Procedures required for operating Hotels

It is a requirement under the Tourist Traffic Acts 1939-2016, that all hotels providing tourist accommodation must be registered with Fáilte Ireland and comply with a set of criteria for the classification concerned.

All hotels must be classified using the Fáilte Ireland Hotel Classification Scheme, hotels
must attain the approval minimum entry level requirements in order to comply with the
Registration and Renewal of Registration Regulations for Hotels 2016. The scheme was
developed in close consultation with the Irish Hotels Federation (IHF).
